Nurturing a Veggie Cult

One day, a long time ago, the parasitic plant that called itself Doc Boots found itself rather curious about agriculture. normally, he would just ask and convince the plants to do as he desired while giving them the magical energy needed to produce the resulted desired. With a plentiful bonus piece of energy. It was only fair, to the flower fae, to gift the Earth, the Tree of Life's roots nestled through out the soil, and Nature as the tree's children, for him to gift a larger quantity. In good faith. The Fae kind were very focused on equal trade, but Doc paid in good faith. A bonus in the hopes the positive energy would pay it forward.

 

This was probably where Doc went astray when it came to his experiment in understanding the 'meat-body' method of cultivating a field. After a bit of study, Doc found that the process was actually quite fun! Yet it was due to this excitement he unknowingly pumping more magical energy into the air, until the farm itself could be classified as a magical grove.

 

The vegetables grew and grew plentiful, and Doc had the added pride of being a plant himself and watching the, supposed, natural growing cycle. Doc's suspicion arose when the gourds of the pumpkins began to, it appeared, grow with two sunken spirals and a slit, creating the illusion of a face. As the other vegetables he had planted began to develop, he found a similar issue with them! He just figured, maybe, this was normal.

 

He figured out it was not when the vegetables began singing in the dead of the night. Especially once they grew little limbs and ripped themselves from their vines. The sight would surely frighten a meat body, but Doc was delighted. The experiment went terribly in terms of expected results, but Doc found himself with a series of swings and swaying vegetables! Along with one weirdly human shaped tree and some deformed flowers who seemed to have slipped into the group.

 

Doc didn't mind either way, but in his excitement he realize he had produced a larger crop than expected. Uncertain how to accommodate them, he picked a pumpkin that seemed particularly fond in staying close to his leg while equal parts disinterested and fearful of conflict. Nurturing this instinct in it, Doc performed a ritual to create a small rudimentary dimension within the pumpkin. The space was made to the group's liking, fart as he could gather. Going in and out through the pumpkin's mouth, the mass group of them stay and tend to the tiny world Doc had given them.

 

In exchange, the group had taken to observing and following Doc. To the point one, a particularly clever potato, had figured out how to transcribe all he has seen. The vegetable is still simple-minded, so it has the issue of being unable to understand what it wrote. Confusingly, the potato seems to be able to get its point across to the Broccoli, who reads the potato's findings to the rest of the cult in their sing-song language. To the point they have attempted replicating Doc's magic rituals and exercises.

 

Unsurprisingly, Doc grew immensely fond of the creatures. He has since dubbed them the Veggie cult, having them follow him around like minions. He does most tasks himself, or gets others to help, as he fears for the moment the Veggie Cult are too weak and gentle to be able to defend themselves. Due to this, should the cult become endangered the freaky flower will rush to their aid with the urgency of a mother bear.
