draft resistance

I hadn't known about this, either: seven Heart Mountain resident were convicted of conspiracy for encouraging men not to register for the draft until their freedom was restored. In all, 300 men were convicted of failing to register. The organizers' convictions were reversed on appeal, and the rest were pardoned in 1947. I suspect Jimmy Carter had this precedent in mind when he pardoned Vietnam-era resisters.
