Storm approaching Eildon hills

To Smashing Billy

Your skills glaze my corneas and squeeze

A burn of tears down the knowing lines

Of lost years

You give my arms pinions

Surging stanzas and lava lyrics pump magma

Through frail conduits and rev heart-engines

To threatened melting speed

You soar me into communion with altitudes

Sweeping over earthscapes

Roiling oceans, pluming forests,

Sleeping vistas of sierra deserts, cauldrons

Of yellow steamings, cataracts of constant rains

Glazings of frigid impasto

X-ray strafing secret seams , pressed forests of

Four star fuel and every cached, precious jewel

Above playgrounds of forgotten games

And lover’s lanes and leaps for shame

Blinking at full cemeteries and empty churches

At secular congregation's blasting curses

Towers of prejudice and power

Tents and rags of the omnipresent poor

Crumbling asylums of breaking minds

A transfer from this storm and wrack of life

Your blithe compositions carry me through

Billy, thank you
