Quachil Uttaus

In the story "The Treader of the Dust" by Clarke Ashton Smith, the protagonist describes the visit from this creature. "...the horror floated swiftly down the wan, deathly gray beam"

 

I wanted to add something to my paint up to pay tribute to this "grey beam", so I tried to make the vortex around the figure look like it is lit from within by a grey light.
