The closer we become
We now have a grass snake in our garden. I was told we did, but I'd never seen it myself. Until the other day when I saw him sunning himself in the unseasonably hot weather. I started out around six feet away, and slowly crept closer and closer. This is not the closest I got, but I loved this photo as I could see my own reflection in his eye. It looks like I'm far away due to the fisheye effect of his eye, but I'm only around 15" from him. Eventually I think I got too close and he could see his own reflection in the lens, and slithered off hissing. We had a good five minutes together though. The closest I've ever gotten to a wild snake.
