Groundsel in fluorescein 2 DSC_1846

OK, this is going to sound a little crazy....

 

Groundsel is a weed that grows along the edges of paths; I uprooted an entire plant and placed it into a glass jar with dilute fluorescein solution (the non-toxic yellow glowing chemical found in glo-sticks).

 

I then placed the Helios 44M onto my camera with a 17mm extension tube to give a field of view of about 7cm width.

 

This image was taken at f/16 with a cyan screen on my mobile phone for illumination.

 

In post-processing, a few tweaks to the sliders and a 4:5 crop.
