Surface Tension - in Explore DSC_6744

After a couple of weeks struggling with the FF theme, I manage to get two crackers by Saturday lunchtime. Only problem is that I can only enter one of them!

This was my back-up shot until I looked at this on my computer monitor, and I've decided this is the one.

A silver birch leaf from last autumn floats by on the surface of Dumbrock Loch. I love the way that the surface tension bends the water around the edges of the leaf.

Hardly any post processing, just a few tweaks to levels. In particular, I have increased the shadow brightness; I wanted to make the blurred, underwater world more balanced and visible, creating dramatic tension with the sharp, tangible, dry world of the leaf.
