small boy figurine

This figure is one of a pair brought home by my father May 25th 1945.

I'm posting it for Looking Close on Friday; Una Sola Minifigura/A Single Minifigure

(I do appreciate it may be too large (15cm tall) for mini, but it is all I have.)

As a PoW my father escaped, on 7th May 1945, from a column of men being marched away from the camps and finished up in Dux where he lived on his wits for 3 weeks before getting a lift in a truck with 3 American ex-POWs to Pilsen. There he was released by the Third US Army and flown back to England via Reims, France.

He found the figure in the Dux factory where he had taken refuge courtesy of a work-party of English PoW's. The little boy has a forget-me-not by one ear, and behind his back, he is carrying a large stick in both hands. I've not been able to find out much about it.....

The figure has a stamp on the base:

Royal

DUX

Deutschland
