the artistry of a spider

Just sitting down to breakfast on New Year's Day, I noticed what, at first sight, appeared to be one of my abortive attempts at knitting. And then I realised a spider had been at work spinning an artistic web around our copper sunflower sculpture - and Jack Frost had added the finishing touch.

 

It lasted until lunch time. I failed to find the spider - can they survive sharp frost?
