Storm Chaser

Belmar, NJ

I learn the most from my epic fails. This was my first time playing the storm chaser. I watched the forecast all weekend and saw that a strong thunderstorm line would be crossing past the Jersey shore. What I didn't account for was that even though I was under a paviliion, the wind and rain blasted me and the gear so suddenly that I had to sit down on top of my stuff so it wouldn't blow away. Those cement benches on the boardwalk were sliding right past me. I didn't get even one shot because I was terrified I would be flung off the boardwalk. Later I heard that there were 70 mph wind gusts that tore off a nearby motel roof and they were investigating for a small tornado. So I did some research on the proper way to storm chase. This guy has some sound advice...https://www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/how-to-photograph-lightning.html
