Unity
It's the title of this sculpture by leading Indonesian artist But Muchtar, which was unveiled in 1982 in Fort Canning Park in Singapore.
"The sculpture is made up of spheres .. Needle-like cones are gathered in the centre of the sculpture; pointing from different directions but implying uniformity as the shadows cast are intertwined. The artist has thoughtfully used shapes to create an asymmetrical balanced within the sculpture. There are five stilt-like structures pointing upward from the top of the sculpture. These resemble the five brown sheaves of rice stalks presented in the original ASEAN logo, one for each founding member from the 1967 union."
