Glass Horse 2017
PSS Wingfield Castle
The Wingfield Castle is Britain's only Museum Paddle Steamer
The museum and separate visitor attraction are based around a recreated naval dockside, built alongside the yard of Wm Gray & Sons
She was built by William Gray and launched in 1934 along with a sister ship - the Tattershall Castle - destined to be one of three Paddlers maintaining a year-round service ferrying passengers, cars , cattle and cargo in Hull
She was finally returned to Hartlepool for restoration in June 1986
It would seem that Wingfield Castle will be confined to Hartlepool Marina due to the fact that the lock which was rebuilt in 1991 after she arrived, is now too small for her to pass through!
