Sand buildup on Porthmeor Beach, St. Ives, Cornwall after storm Ciara.

There is a 1952 photograph in existence which shows the buildup of the sand reached the eaves of the roofs of the beach front properties - after storms and no action to move the sand.

Each year a bulldozer or digger is used to push the sand towards the sea and level the beach.

This partly for the holiday season, but mainly to protect the properties from flooding.

I searched for the 1952 image and came across this page:-
