Wesleyburrow layout WIP update
This is the first post showing the layout. Well here it is. When I was building all of my english trains, I wanted something more. I realized that what drew my attention towards british trains wasn't the trains themselves..it was the the towns, hills, landscape, buildings, stations, and everything else that made them special. What sparked my idea to make it was when i watched the old youtube series "Trouble with Trains" by TurboJUK. I wanted to make my own series, and I decided to get to work. I also watched an old TTTE episode for the nostalgia and saw the beauty of an english countryside and town to go with the trains. So, the building began. I began with basic stuff; Stations, track, signals, a few fences, etc. I then started to build more of a town. Do know that this was my old layout, which was a loop with some sidings. It wasn't very realistic, but I tried making it as convincing as possible. I worked on it for half a year until a big lego show was approaching. Originally, I had planned to just bring trains..but I thought that trains needed track, so I would bring a loop with some buildings. To make it more impressive, I kept adding to it and adding to it..I built a house, a bakery, a small pub, and rebuilt an old tan building. The road I was not happy with. The studs created a bumpy road...so I took a risk. I decided to try and make the whole road tiles. I rummaged and bought lots and lots, and when it seemed like I didn't have enough, my nearby lego store Bricks and Minifigs, which is my supplier for 90% of all my bricks, found box in the back rich with dark grey tiles. So I finished the road, and I decided to take out the old tan building and I built a wonderful post office with a clocktower on top. I built a steam roller, a 1938 coupe, and a fruit truck for my roads. I went all out on scenery too. I didn't have space for it in the second version of the layout you see above, but I have built a big green hill with a bridge over it for an overhead hill with a bridge (I will post pics asap). When the show rolled around, I had gotten enough grey baseplates to make the layout bigger and better. When the show ended, I wasn't happy with the realism of the layout. The passenger train and station was in a dead end siding, rather than beside the mainline, and the curves were very sharp and cut through everything. So, wiping the slate partially clean, I built what you see above. I built a new and better signal box since my old one was unrealistic, and I upgraded the pub to a much more english look. So, I hope you enjoy it. I will keep adding to it and extending it. In about a week it will be displayed in a shop window for the entirety of May, so I wanted to post this while I had the chance.
