I came across this fly sitting on a piece of bark. It appeared nondescript at first, but sat very compliantly for its portrait, revealing lots of detail. The identification of fly species frequently depends on microscopic examination of genitalia, so it is unlikely that this one can be identified to species from photographs alone.
