Common Marbled Carpet Dysstroma truncata

21/09/2022: 15W actinic trap; Llangennith, Gower, S Wales.

I’d not seen an Autumnal Rustic since trapping on Moel Findeg, Denbighshire in 2018, so it was good to see two in the trap this morning. One of them posed well, before eventually scuttling away and backing itself carefully into a crevice of a stone wall. Windy conditions did not make photography easy, and the only other worthwhile result was of a Common Marbled Carpet, well camouflaged when released onto a tree trunk.
