Our Patch
This amazing sequence of shots came about just as I was setting up in one of the hides on Venus Pool. I did not have time to setup the camera properly and the VR was not switched on on the sigma lens so some of the shots in the sequence are shaky and I have edited them.
A pair of Mallards took exception to this cock Pheasant being on their patch. The Pheasant was sifting through the leaf mould in front of the hide when the Mallard drake approached head down trying to look aggressive. The Pheasant backed off a little, I think more in surprise than anything else. He then launched a very aggressive attack, first on the drake and then on the female to defend his rights.
