Conrail B36-7 “class unit” 5000 leads a westbound mail train through Belt Line Junction, Pennsylvania. The B36-7’s immediately replaced GP40-2’s as the preferred power for hot intermodal trains when delivered in 1983. By this time, six-month old B40-8’s were bumping B36-7’s from some of these assignments.
