Duck Waiting On The Jetty
The female mallard here is patiently waiting for the next ferry to arrive - she asks " What time is the next ferry or more to the point how long before it comes ?? "
" I can't be waiting too long but I certainly hope it is soon - I cannot bear getting my feet wet , don't you know and as for sitting in chilly water for hours on end - that just does not bear thinking about !! " . It was bad enough just getting here , those trees keep dropping bits and I had to really watch where I put my webby feet cos' they hurt treading on those bits !! "
" I expect you have guessed now that I am not cut out for all this nature stuff and come night time - Oh my goodness !! I hate the dark and when the sun goes down and the moon is not bright and clear - well that's me done and right petrified , who knows what is looking out for supper ?? "
" I wonder what the number is for one of those wildlife sanctuaries, I might get on better in one of those places - trouble is I do not know how to do the telephone !! I think I am in a right pickle " !!
