A Sunny View

A rare chance for me to get a scenic view capture and in some nice sunshine as well . This is taken from the car park at the top of Young Street -also known as The Canadian Road .
A Second Word War road and Canadian legacy.
During the Second World War, Canadian forces were stationed in various buildings in Leatherhead, including Thorncroft Manor. They left a legacy in two very contrasting ways: two maple trees, their national tree, planted in the grounds of the Manor and the construction of Young Street, now the A246 road between Leatherhead and Guildford. It was named after Colonel Young, the Canadian commanding officer.
The other thing of note here is that the right of the picture is in the A.O.N.B. Surrey Hills , on the left just out of shot is the access road to Bocketts Farm Park which is just out of the AONB if I am reading the map correctly .
In the note box on the shot , highlighted is the rough area where Michael Caine used to live for many years and not to far by foot from where I grew up - but in no way a similar property . However , I knew more of his older residence in Old Windsor back in the 1970s when I was involved in a survey of his place inside and out . Quite surreal being invited in for some coffee and cake sitting at one end of the huge breakfast bar with Michael & Shakira at the other end entertaining some friends having eggs & bacon and cans of Coke !!
