On The " Level "
Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 27/02/2021 - Palindromes .
Well this has been a challenge , firstly a case of choosing which Palindrome to use and then finding a shot to capture the word . I did have some ambitious ideas , but in these restricted days they were just not doable , even a passing helicopter flying low would have done but they are not so common these days .
So I have just dug out my tool box and pulled out my spirit " Level " , ( sometimes referred to as a Bubble Stick ) . So the word Level is my palindrome , but levels and leveling have played a big part in my life . Throughout the 1970s I was a land surveyor and of course the job involved a great deal of work determining the heights throughout the survey area . The theodolite , angles and distances looked after the plan area and the Level in conjunction with a staff looked after the elevations and heights above datum ( including making allowances for angled measurements ) . So , on my spirit Level is a virtual sticker of me in May 1974 trompsing over the Highlands of Scotland near to Dalwhinnie taking Levels in preparation to a major by-pass project of the A9 around Dalwhinnie .
For your amusement a shot of the virtual sticker in full is in the first comment box . Tis I stood by the Level jotting down the readings - the level is/was a Hilger & Watts , we used either Watts or Wild equipment back in the day (Wild pronounced
" Vilt " - something like that anyway ! )
In true keeping for Sight & Sound
