Palma de Mallorca - The Royal Palace and Cathedral
The Almudaina Royal Palace was built during the Muslim domination and served as an alcasar. From the 13th century, this place passed into the hands of the Spanish monarchy, and since then it has been rebuilt on the model of the Royal Palace in Perpiñán, France. It is the official residence of the royal family during their stay in Mallorca. Together with the cathedral in Palma, they are a showcase of the landscape of the Balearic capital.
The first foundations for the cathedral were laid at the beginning of 1230, on the site of the former mosque. The construction of the Cathedral (La Seu) in Palma de Mallorca, however, took another 400 years. The modern look of the cathedral comes from 1851, when a strong earthquake forced some renovation works. The cathedral is one of the largest in the world; it is 121 meters long, 44 meters wide and 55 meters high.

Pierwsze fundamenty pod katedrę postawiono już na początku 1230 roku, na miejscu dawnego meczetu. Budowa Katedry (La Seu) w Palma de Mallorca trwała jednak przez kolejne 400 lat. Współczesny wygląd katedry pochodzi z 1851 roku, kiedy to silne trzęsienie ziemi wymusiło pewne prace remontowe. Katedra należy do największych na świecie; ma 121 metrów długości, 44 m szerokości i 55 m wysokości.
