Transfag Route (Transfăgărăşan) - the highest road in Romania after Transalpina, reaching 2034 m.
Transfogaras Road crosses from north to south Fogaras Mountains - the highest mountain range of the Romanian Carpathians, between their two highest peaks - Moldoveanu and Negoiu. It connects the cities of Sibiu in Transylvania and Piteşti in Wallachia. The most spectacular view is from the north.
This route was established at the initiative of Nicolae Ceausescu. She had open access to forest resources and to enable the construction of winter sports center. Contractors murderous work of former soldiers that killed about 20 people. Construction lasted 5 years. Was put into service in 1974 as a road not paved, until 1980 was covered with asphalt.

Droga Transfogaraska przecina z północy na południe Góry Fogaraskie – najwyższe pasmo górskie rumuńskich Karpat, między ich dwoma najwyższymi szczytami – Moldoveanu i Negoiu. Łączy miasta Sybin w Siedmiogrodzie i Pitești na Wołoszczyźnie. Najbardziej spektakularnie prezentuje się od strony północnej.
Droga ta powstała z inicjatywy Nicolae Ceausescu. Miała otworzyć dostęp do zasobów leśnych i umożliwić budowę ośrodka sportów zimowych. Wykonawcami morderczych prac byli żołnierze, których zginęło około 20 osób. Roboty trwały 5 lat. Do użytku oddano w 1974 jako drogę nie utwardzoną a do 1980 została pokryta asfaltem
