Nazaré is a city in central Portugal with a population of around 10,000. It is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Silver Coast (Costa de Prata).
The town of Nazaré consists of the Praia (along the beach) and Sítio (cliff-top old village) districts connected by the Nazaré Funicular.
The city is famous for the feast of September 8, as part of the Feast of Our Lady of Nazaré. It is a ten-day religious and secular holiday with processions, bullfighting, fireworks, folk dancing and a fair.
