Ohrid (Охрид) is a city in North Macedonia, the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth largest city in the country. The city is known for having once had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and was referred to as "Jerusalem of Balkans". The city has numerous picturesque houses, historic churches, often carefully reconstructed, and mosques. It is an important tourist center. In 1979 and 1980 the city of Ohrid and Lake Ohrid were inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
