The Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) is one of the most famous fountains of Rome in the middle of Navona Square. Built in 1650-1651 at the request of Pope Innocent X. It symbolizes 4 great rivers from 4 continents: Nile, Danube, Rio de la Plata and Ganges. The rivers were represented by figures of four giants supported on a rock identified with chaos. At the top of the obelisk was placed a pigeon with an olive branch located in the coat of arms of Innocent X and his family. A place visited by crowds of tourists staying in Rome.
