Vilnius - The Three Crosses Mountain
The Three Crosses Mountain is one of the hills in Vilnius, on the right bank of Wilejka River, from which there is a beautiful panorama of city. At the top there is a monument, which according to legend is to commemorate the martyrdom of seven Franciscans. Four were thrown to Wilejka, and three crosses with the bodies of martyrs were placed on top. However, there is no historical confirmation of this legend. These crosses were already set in the early 17th century, first wooden and from 1916 brick. In 1950, the Soviet authorities blew them up. Residents of Vilnius rebuilt them only in 1989, just before regaining independence.

Góra Trzykrzyska to jedno ze wzgórz w Wilnie, na prawym brzegu rzeki Wilejki, z którego roztacza się piękna panorana miasta. Na górze stoi pomnik, który wg. legendy ma upamiętniać męczeństwo siedmiu franciszkanów. Czterech strącono do Wilejki, zaś trzy krzyże z ciałami męczenników ustawiono na górze. Nie ma jednak historycznego potwierdzenia tej legendy. Krzyże te były ustawione już w na początku XVII wieku, najpierw drewniane a od roku 1916 murowane. W roku 1950 władze Sowieckie wysadziły je w powietrze. Mieszkańcy Wilna odbudowali je dopiero w 1989 roku, tuż przed odzyskaniem niepodległości.
