Sumela - Monastery of the Black Madonna
According to legend, it was founded in 6th century by Greek monk Barabash. Venerated here, famous for miracles, the icon of the Madonna was reportedly made by St. Luke. For many centuries he was one of the centers of worship of the Byzantine Church. In the 20s of the 20th century, after the abolition of monasteries in Turkey, the Greeks left the monastery, hiding an icon in the mountains. After 10 years she was secretly deported to Greece.
