The theater in Epidauros is an ancient building that was built around 330 BC. The audience has over 14 thousand spectators. The theater is characterized by excellent acoustics, so that the whisper or rustle on the stage was heard even in the outermost row. The audience of the theater survived in good condition, mainly because it was covered with earth until the 19th century. Dramas from ancient Greek dramatists, including Sophocles, Euripides and Aeschylus, are still on display here.
