Fez - The city was founded by Idris II in the eighth century AD. In the next century there has been a very intensive development, and in 807 ruler Idris II established here the first capital of Morocco. When to the city come refugees from the two most important centers of contemporary Islamic world - Cordoba in Andalusia and Kairouan in Tunisia, flourished here the development of medicine, philosophy, and mathematics. In 1981, the Medina of Fez (visible in the picture) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fez - Miasto zostało założone przez Idrisa I w VIII wieku n.e. W następnym stuleciu nastąpił bardzo intensywny rozwój, a w 807 roku kolejny władca Idris II ustanowił tu pierwszą stolicę Maroka. Do miasta przybyli wtedy uchodźcy z dwóch najważniejszych ośrodków ówczesnego islamskiego świata - Kordowy w Andaluzji i Kairuanu w Tunezji. Kwitł tu rozwój medycyny, filozofii i matematyki.
W 1981 medyna w Fezie (widoczna na zdjeciu) została wpisana na listę światowego dziedzictwa kultury UNESCO.
