When we arrived on the evening of August 11, 2024, this was our first view of the Záhony station. Záhony is located in Hungary, right on the border with Ukraine. Before that we were in Slovakia, in Čierna nad Tisou, another border station to Ukraine. The direct distance from Čierna nad Tisou to Záhony is only about 5.9 km (3.7 mi), but by car it took us 70 to 80 minutes because of the bad infrastructure in the border area between Hungary and Slovakia.
