Airlock WIP
There are many, many examples on Flickr and Eurobricks of beautifully detailed, realistic airlocks that are just static facades, built for show. The only working airlocks I've seen have simple, square hatches with single hinges.
In an upcoming build, I wanted a nice, detailed, round airlock door with modern parts, inset into the wall, with working hinges.
Here, one version translates out and to the left, modeled after an airline door.
Another version swings out and turns to the left on 3.18-mm bar hinges. This version accommodates an astronaut comfortably in the airlock chamber, but the hinges are fragile.
Another version swings out and turns to the left on Technic pin hinges. This version is more robust, but leaves too little room for the astronaut in the airlock chamber.
If anyone can direct me to similar doors and hinges on existing creations from other builders, I'd be glad to see them. They probably work a lot better than these ideas.
