SH2-261

SH2-261 is also known as Lower's Nebula Named after Harold and Charles Lower who discovered this nebula in 1939. It's located in Orion near the border of Gemini. It's a faint emission nebula made up predominantly of ionized hydrogen gas. It contains several fine structures and pillars that are best appreciated while zoomed in.
