LEGO NER EE1 No.13

Brick Train Awards Entry 2021

So, I've finally finished it - but what is it? This rather unusual loco is a North Eastern Railway EE1 (Electric Engine 1). Built-in 1922 this engine was built for the electrification of the northern railway. Sadly, this engine was a victim of bad timing. During the grouping period this engine was put on hold and sadly was never run on the mainline. The engine was eventually scrapped under the governance of British Railway.

This loco had some self constraints in mind. For those who don't know in 2020, my P2 won Best Steam Train. Though not everyone agreed it should have. I try not to let snarking comets get to me, but this time it did. The biggest upset of the win was that I modified LEGO parts to help style my build. It's not for everyone, but I wanted to prove that I don't rely on cutting to make detailed models. So this build for me is already a winner.

I had a fantastic time building this loco (especially in lime green), and hope to build another NER engine in the future! Good luck to everyone who is competing!
