Opium poppies, Deloraine

While driving around the North West Coast of Tasmania, we saw fields and fields of opium poppies.

Did you know that about 40 - 50% of the worlds licit opium poppies are grown in Tasmania?

I think it is because Tasmania has strict quarantine laws, which are enforced hence diseases can be controlled.
