Scientific Management

This theory postulates that the amount of time and effort that each worker expands to produce a unit of output can be reduced by increasing specialization and the division of labor, the production process will become more efficient. This increases productivity because it cuts on time to produce each unit of value. In these two pictures we have illustrations of this theory from a Chipolte restaurant. The first picture shows the shirts worn by team members, this one with the words “I baked the chips this morning” illustrating the level of specialization among the team members at a Chipolte. The second photo shows actual team members on the production line, each performing a specific task, one making rice, the other grilling and cutting up steak.
