The end is near

One of the last times I was able to shoot the P&W passenger train before the railroad was officially taken over by the G&W was on Saturday October 30, 2016. The Mass Bay RRE chartered the train as the "Three Rivers Special" running from Worcester, MA to the Valley RR in Essex, CT. The P&W power was dropped at Old Saybrook and the Valley's Chinese steamer New Haven 3025 operated the train all the way north to the end of track near Goodspeed station. P&W Observation car number 90 "The New Englander" brought up the rear of the train. The coach had just recently been repainted and received a "new" PW logo on the rear. Sadly it has now been replaced with a G&W logo. The train is shown northbound on the Valley RR's mainline skirting the Connecticut River in Haddam, CT. This is the way I would like to remember it.
