Montpelier Walk - Kensington - South Side- For sale!

This would be as close to the fictional "No. 6" as possible. Here, the houses are more imposing, with their porticoes and cornices. I never pictured Soames' house as having these, but it might. Galsworthy, at the end of "The Man of Property", as Soames is agonizing over Irene's affair, does describe him going out onto a small balcony on the first floor. This is where he sees Young Jolyon at the door, inquiring after Irene, since he knows Bosinney is dead. Soames goes to the door, says "We are not at home!" and slams the door in his face. Back then, the door was olive green, not black. This seemed to be a favorite colour of G's.
