Neue Synagogue, Dresden

In the midst of the Baroque splendour that is Dresden I found this example of modern architecture.

As the available site made it impossible to have the building face East as is customary, the building turns within itself, with every layer of masonry a little off the axis of the previous layer.

I found it profoundly disturbing and forbidding and although it won a World Architecture Award I am unsure about my reaction to it.
