Hatchment,St Mary The Virgin Chiddingstone Kent

Dexter background black.

Qly, 1st and 4th, Per fess gules and argent three bezants(Streatfeild), 2nd and 3rd, Gules a chevron between three esquires` helms argent(Fremlyn), impaling. Ermine on a pile gules a leopard`s face jessant-de-lys or(Terry).

Crest: An arm in armour proper, bent from the elbow, the forearm encircled with a band tied in a knot gules, supporting a spear argent

with a pennon showing argent a cross gules on the dexter side of the spear, and gules three bezants fessways on the sinister; the pennon being turned round the spear to show part of both sides.

Mantling: Gules and argent.

No motto, but on a scroll: Neare this place lyeth ye Body of Rich.Streatfeild of this parish Gent qui obiit 15th Apr. Anno Dom. 1676 aged 65 yeares 4 months and 7 days. Frame decorated with skulls. crossbones and hourglasses.

For Richard Streatfeild, of Chiddingstone, who m. 1636, Anne, dau. and co-heir of William Terry, of Wadhurst.
