St Conans Kirk
A departure from my normal Landscape photography, St Conans kirk (Church) is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Argyll and Bute Scotland.
Situated in the tiny village of Loch Awe on Scotlands west coast the church was designed and built by Walter Douglas-Campbell at the turn of the 20th centuary, the kirk is unique in having an example of almost every style of church architecture. Highlights include the Norman doorway, Gothic flying buttresses, a Celtic cross, Arts and Crafts carvings and a Saxon tower.
This picture is of the apse at the east end of the church and resembles a stone circle, many of which are to be found in the neolithic landscapes of Scotland's Argyll and Bute area.
