Bishop Middleham Signal Box

A series of photographs taken of Bishop Middleham Signal Box around July 1984. This signal box was situated a few miles south of Ferryhill on the branch to Norton via Stilington. The signal box had recently closed and the semaphores had been replaced by colour light signals. All the windows had been smashed and it looked like a stool once used by the signalman had been used to complete the task as it can been seen hanging on the balcony in one shot. Not long after this the siganl box was demolished. The branch away from the box leads to Fishburn Colliery and the exchange sidings at Bishop Middleham.
