You were

The darkest star

In a clear night

The coldest eyes

In a hopeless fight

 

The deepest chill

The bitter pill

The final bite

That kills

 

You were

The broken neck snap

The poke in my eye

The knife in my back

The heart breaking lie

 

The noose's knot

The hidden spot

The dancer's promise

My lost faith's rot

 

And yet,

When all hope is lost

And death comes soon

And I close my eyes

To my bleeding doom

I see you
