Sweet Lies

I wake up but keep my eyes closed

Not ready to get out of bed

The ache in my bones from the night

Reminds me the nightmare's not dead

 

Sometimes I dream of escape

Using that dream to survive

Sometimes I do get away

And find out my dream was all lies

 

I'm lost to despair without dreams

I need them to get through the day

But what do I do when they die

I'm left without reason to stay

 

The key to surviving the day

Is to pretend that I've already died

Yesterday's dream may be gone

But another will someday arise

 

There's nothing for me from before

So I wait for a sweet sounding lie
