Valentines Card

When I was ten my mother

Sent me to school with

Cookies for everyone

For Valentines Day

 

Everyone gave each other

Valentine cards, except

I was the only one

Not to receive any.

 

I stood with my hands

In my pockets, watching

Everyone's delight

While I stood alone.

 

That feeling was new,

But it never went away.

 

We all can't see something.

I can't see your tears,

And you can't see my smile.

 

I don't have a Valentines card

For you,

But I wish I could see

Your delight.
