I watch you as you pass me by

Never noticing I'm there

What could I be to make you stop

Or visit me in my lair

 

If I was a maple tree

Would it tickle when you take my sap

If I was a wood pecker

Would you sing in joy with my tap tap tap

 

If I was a stalk of corn

Would you help me to be shucked

If I was a wild horse

Would you ride me when I bucked

 

I can sit and think of things to be

Wondering how you'd see me

If I was caught in a magic spell

Could it be your kiss to free me

 

Could I die and be an angel

Coming to your sleep

Or would I die and be a devil

Cursed to only peep

 

I wish I was anything to you

I wish you'd stop and see me, too.
