Panning for gold, Manikarnika, Varanasi

Those in the water are panning for gold at the Manikarnika Ghat on the Ganges. The Manikarnika Ghat is a cremation ghat along the Ganges River and it is said fire never dies there. One or other pyre contnues to burn at the ghat. These people are paaning the ashes swept into the Ganges for any gold or precious stones or metals that may have gotten through like Gold teeth, jewelry, hair pins, etc, etc.
