Klippschliefer: Anfänglich galten die Tiere als nahe verwandt mit den Nagetieren, später sah man sie eher in einer engeren Beziehung mit anderen Huftieren. Zusammen mit anderen Hyrax-Arten und den Seekühen ist diese Art am engsten mit dem Elefanten verwandt.
