Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) 1985 Ford Mustang SSP
An antique Florida Highway Patrol Ford Mustang SSP on display at the St. Augustine Beach National Night Out event in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. The Mustang SSP, meaning Special Service Package, was a factory variant of the foxbody Mustang that was available to police departments such as FHP and CHP from the early 1980s until the mid 1990s. The Florida Highway Patrol was one of the biggest users of the car, and ordered thousands of them from its inception until its discontinuation. This specific vehicle is a 1985 SSP and has been restored and maintained by an auxiliary trooper. It is not in active service with FHP.
