Comparison with/without flash
Strobist info: Nikon D7100, Nikon 17-55mm 2.8, strobe is Godox AD360II (which I highly recommend) with a small, 18-inch Godox AD-S7 Octagonal Softbox, triggered with Godox X1N transmitter. Shot using High-Speed Sync @1/2000 sec at f/3.5 to kill some ambient and avoid blowing out the bright afternoon sky. I set the Godox+ diffuser at around 1/2 power as the student walked away, and the assistant followed along about 6-8 feet to the right and slighlty behind the student, holding the strobe high on a monopod, angled down roughly 45 degrees. You can see the little softbox in the top right hand corner of the "flash off" image. The afternoon sun provided "fill" from behind camera left (as reflected on the helmet)
